JonTron And the Racist Remarks That Got Him In Trouble

Popular Youtube personality, JonTron (Jon Jafari), has come under fire recently based on his personal views on immigration and race.

After replying to a tweet from US republican representative, Steve King, Jon went on a popular Twitch streamer’s broadcast and continued to dig his hole even deeper.

In the Twitch stream (which can be viewed publicly in its entirety on Destiny’s youtube channel) Jon Jafari debates that America has always been a European nation since it was settled by European pilgrims escaping persecution.

He claims the SJW (Social Justice Warrior) movement is only strengthening the lines between races and that white people have nothing to do with said segregation in modern times.

Let’s backpedal a bit. Jon Jafari is a 26 year old man from California of Greco-Hungarian/Iranian descent. In 2010 he started his youtube channel “JonTronShow” where he posts comedic videos on video games or B class movies. Jon Jafari is also a co-founder of the popular youtube series “Game Grumps” with his long time friend Egoraptor (Arin Hanson).

These views have shocked many of JonTron’s fans.

After the controversial tweet on March 12th was posted, there was severe backlash from followers and the JonTronShow youtube channel lost over 10,000 subscribers. He’s even been dropped as a voice actor from the upcoming open world platform based game “Yooka-Laylee” because of said remarks.

Jon later went on to post a video to his personal youtube channel in an attempt to explain his previous actions.

So what do you all think? Was he simply misunderstood? Or was he really guilty of saying some pretty offensive stuff?

Francisco has been a massive media nerd since he could remember. He's an anthropology major at Queens college and part time as a teacher's assistant in Brooklyn. He enjoys writing science fiction/fantasy stories when he's not watching the newest Netflix show or listening to a podcast.
