New Drake project breaks Apple Music record w/ 89.9M streams in 24 hours, besting Spotify by 30M

Over the weekend, Canadian rapper Drake unveiled his latest project, a 22-song release called “More Life.”
Unlike the rapper’s previous project, “More Life” was not an Apple Music exclusive. Nevertheless, “More Life” set records on Apple’s streaming service, while also besting performance on Spotify… According to The Verge, “More Life” was streamed 89.9 million times on Apple Music during the first 24 hours of availability. This number “shatters” the previous record for streams in 24 hours on Apple Music, which is believed to be held by Drake’s last album, “Views.” Additionally, the performance of “More Life” on Apple Music significantly outpaced the performance of the project on Spotify. On Spotify, “More Life” was streamed 61.3 million times in the first 24 hours of availability, some 28.6 million fewer times than on Apple Music. Nevertheless, “More Life” bested previous Spotify records and is now holds the title of most streams in 24 hours. In this case, Drake bested Ed Sheeran’s latest album, which was streamed 56.7 million times in the first 24 hours of its availability.
