Did This Magazine Just Give Away Jon Snow's Real Name?
In preparation for season 7 of Game of Thrones, we're grabbing onto any new piece of information we can get and we might have just landed on a big one thanks to Empire Magazine. Did we just learn Jon Snow's real name?
If you didn't know already (and if that's true, where have you been and why are you reading this article and not watching GoT), Jon Snow isn't a bastard at all. He's the true born son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. This might mean not only are his origins different than what we originally thought, but also his name.
Jon Snow might not be Jon Snow at all but actually Jaehaerys Targaryan. He seriously knows nothing.
It would make sense that Jon Snow would have a Targaryen name. He would be the third Jaehaerys in his family. It would also make sense that Ned Stark would raise him under a different name to protect his identity from King Robert Baratheon, who was smitten with Lyanna and would have killed Jon had he known the truth.
So how does Empire know this? It could just be speculation or some good lip reading from the season 6 finale by a reddit user.
If Jon Snow claims his true name, what does it mean for his future? Is he closer to realizing his Targaryen destiny and sitting on the Iron Throne like the first of his name?
