Game of Thrones Costume Designer Leaks Spoilers For Jon And Daenerys
Season 7 has famously been hyped up as the season in which characters with seemingly separate story lines will meet for the first time.
Not surprisingly, one of the most highly anticipated potential meetings is that of Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen.
Fans of this pairing can rejoice, for in an interview with UPROXX Michele Clapton, Game of Thrones costume designer, accidentally let slip some interesting information about the two coming together in the upcoming season.
The details came during a conversation about the design of Jon's cape for Season 7.
"We had a lot of discussions about does the cape give him presence or is it better not to have that presence? What are we trying to say? There are times when we removed it because we wanted him to be more vulnerable. Especially I think, when he saw Dany, and he went to see her for the first time in her chamber."
So Jon Snow visits Daenerys in her "chamber."
If nothing else, this confirms that Jon Snow will arrive at Dragonstone in the next season, and the likelihood of an alliance between the two.
Clapton also mentions another meeting, which bares hazier consequences:
"We decided to remove [the cape], but when he went to see Cersei, we put it on."
Jon's cape is designed to give his character an air of power and stance. What could be the importance of showing vulnerability towards Dany, but remaining on the offensive when visiting Cersei?
Books & Boots
"That's a big heavy cape and yes, it is him as Ned, but he's actually not Ned."
Jon may represent the biggest threat to Cersei and the Lannisters in the upcoming season, especially if his costume is meant to evoke Ned Stark during his visit to Cersei Lannister.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO on Sunday, July 16.
