Manuwa: I Fought ‘Rumble,’ So Jones Doesn’t Scare Me

Jimi Manuwa solidified himself as a top contender in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight division following his second straight knockout victory, which took place this past weekend (March 18, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 107 in London, England, taking out Corey Anderson in the headlining bout with a one-hitter quitter (see it again here).
Afterward, “Poster Boy” lobbied for a title fight, saying he is solely focused on facing the winner of the upcoming rematch between Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson, which is set to go down at UFC 210 on April 8, 2017 in Buffalo, New York (details). While others — myself included — feel a fight against Jon Jones seems more reasonable, Manuwa reiterated that he isn’t focused on fighting “Bones” at the moment, a fighter he accused of being on steroids because of this. “It doesn’t make the most sense, because I’m still focused on the title; but Jon Jones would be an amazing fight. He’s probably the best fighter that’s ever stepped into the Octagon,” Jimi said on a recent edition of The MMA Hour. “And why not? I’ve always said why wouldn’t I want to fight him? He’s not on my agenda right now.
