Fairfax, Loudoun police searching for missing 17-year-old reported to have been assaulted
Police in Fairfax and Loudoun counties were searching Sunday for a teenager who reportedly was assaulted and went missing overnight after leaving a religious institution in the area, authorities said.
Loudoun County Sheriff spokeswoman Deputy Aleksandra Kowalski said a group of youths had gone to Town Center Plaza, in the 1100 block of Dranesville Road in Herndon, after leaving an unspecified religious institution. While they were walking back, Kowalski said, one of the youths was reported to have been assaulted and went missing. Fairfax police, which were in charge of the investigation, released few details Sunday afternoon. Spokeswoman Tawny Wright said police were searching for a 17-year-old who may have been assaulted. More information was expected to be released at a news conference Sunday evening. This is a developing story and will be updated.
