Bill Polian's Tom Brady Comments Are Laughable
Long-time Patriots hater and hall of game executive, Bill Polian, seems to be trying to add “psychic” to his resume. Or, he could just be trying to revise history with his most recent comments, claiming the Colts front office had a first round grade for Tom Brady in the 2000 draft. Yeahhhh right....
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Polianwas asked to name the quarterbacks he would have drafted if Peyton Manning wasn’t on the roster, and after of course mentioning Ben Roethlisberger and Aaron Rodgers, of course Polian had to bring up good ole’ Tom Brady. Here's what he had to say on the matter.
“Well, Roethlisberger later on [in 2004] -- we were really high on him. Aaron Rodgers the year after. That’s the only name that comes to mind right away,”
“And I don’t think there was a guy in between, but Tom Brady would have been a guy, and we were very high on him. Our guys really loved him, but we weren’t in the quarterback market, obviously. Those would be the guys I remember us giving solid, first-round, can-lead-you-to-a-championship grades.”
I’m sorry, come again now? Is he saying what I think he is saying? He can’t be serious. He has to be either lying or he's admitting to making one of the biggest mistakes in NFL history.
The fact that Colts drafted Manning in 1998 would not logically exclude them from drafting a Quarterback "with first round talent" two years later in 2000.
For those of you who may have forgotten, Polian went ahead and drafted Jim Sorgi with the 193th pick in the 2004 draft.
If Polian truly had a first-round grade on Brady, he should have scooped him up when he had the chance. Ya know, maybe anywhere between rounds 2-6?
So Polian basically tried sounding cool in telling everyone that he knew along that Brady would become the GOAT. Instead, he sounds like a clown that is talking out of his ass.
Just imagine all the heartache he would've saved Peyton Manning and Colts fans if he "was in the quarterback market" in 2000.
What do you think? Is he telling the truth or just blowing smoke? Let me know in the comments below!
