It's Possible That This Favorite Character Will Be Daenerys' Downfall
The newest Mother of Dragons theory buzzing in fans' ears concerns a prophecy (of course) that appears only in the books.
We've seen such prophecies on the show before, and Maggy the Frog's Valonqar prophecy from the books has caused a great deal of speculation among fans of the show as well.
Let's get to the prophecy, shall we?
Those who have read Martin's book series may remember that back when Daenerys was Qarth, she was told that she would be betrayed three times: Once for blood, once for gold, and once for love.
The prophecy was never told in the show. However, two such betrayals (for blood and for gold) have already been prominent features of the Mother of Dragons' storyline.
When Mirri Maz Duur killed Dany's unborn child in an attempt to save Khal Drogo's life, and when Jorah acted as a spy for Robert Baratheon, Daenerys was betrayed for blood and for gold.
It is not a stretch to imagine that someone in the coming season will betray her for love.
I know that when we hear Dany and love in the same sentence eager fans start screaming Jon Snow's name. But there is another, more compelling theory about who will be the one to betray the Mother of Dragons.
Watching Jaime's attack on Dany in the most recent episode, Tyrion whispers under his breath "Flee, you idiot."
While not really proof of anything, the scene suggested that when it comes down to it, Tyrion's loyalty may still lie with the brother he loves.
Considering Jaime was the one who freed Tyrion from prison, it's not a crazy thought; and there is no doubt that the new Hand of the Queen will be put to the test before the season is up.
