Your Guide to GoT Musician Cameos
Winter is Coming
You might not have noticed, but Game of Thrones loves its cameos. A few creators have appeared on the show and even more of their family members have made cameos. Some special appearances that are especially of note are those of musicians that GoT seems to love.
The Daily Dot
This Icelandic band made their onscreen GoT debut as the musicians at Joffrey and Margaery's wedding in the season 4 episode "The Lion and the Rose". They also recorded their own version of "The Rains of Castamere".
Will Champion (Coldplay)
In the vein of weddings, Game of Thrones had another musician, Coldplay drummer Will Champion, play at The Red Wedding as in the season 3 episode "The Rains of Castamere". You could see Champion drumming out the song just before the carnage began.
Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol)
The Snow Patrol member teased fans about an appearance on the show with a Facebook photo of him in costume. He showed up in the Season 3 episode "Walk of Punishment" as one of Roose Bolton's men who sings "The Bear and The Maiden Fair".
Of Monsters and Men
Wiki of Thrones
The Indie band Of Monsters and Men made an appearance as the Braavosi musicians Arya sees on her mission to kill Lady Crane in the season 6 episode "The Door".
If you looked carefully in the season 5 episode "Hardhome", you will see the heavy metal band Mastodon appear as wildlings who are later re-animated as wights.
Wilko Johnson (Dr. Feelgood)
This musician made quite the impression on Game of Thrones' first and second seasons as Ser Ilyn Payne, who most notably executes Ned Stark. He was hired because of the death glare of his onstage persona.
