The Game of Thrones Season 8 Episodes Are Written And Wow They're Movie Length
We're only 2 episodes into Game of Thrones season 7, but the end feels so close. There are only 5 more episodes left for season 7, and then we get one more season with only 6. However, we shouldn't complain too soon about such minimal content. The season 8 episodes of Game of Thrones are officially written and they look to be VERY LONG.
HBO programming president Casey Bloys suggested the show could go feature film length, stating to journalists:
"We haven't had that discussion yet because I don't know how long the episodes are going to be. Two hours per episode seems like it would be excessive, but it's a great show, so who knows?"
Fans were excited at the prospect of slightly longer episodes this season, so the idea of 2 hour long episodes is very big news. We can just think of it as 2 episodes, right? That way we have plenty of Game of Thrones content before it goes away.
But remember, Game of Thrones isn't about to disappear in entirety. Four possible spin-offs are in the works, though they won't premiere until at least a year after Game of Thrones ends. As Bloys said:
"The number one priority in all of this is the final season of Game of Thrones. I don't want to do anything with a spin-off or anything that detracts or distracts from that."
We're still going to have to wait a while for any of this to come to fruition, Game of Thrones season 8 isn't coming until 2019.
