How HBO Is Preventing Any Possibility of Game of Thrones Season 7 Leaks
As avid fans may remember, four episodes of Game of Thrones' Season 5 were leaked and available for illegal streaming before the season had even aired.
Around the time of a show's air date (and particularly a show as big as GoT), critics and journalists will often receive the first few episodes some days prior, in order to get their opinions written and ready by the time the season actually does premier.
However, when Season 5 was released in 2015, a leak allowed the public to download episodes of the show before the official launch.
Naturally, precautions were taken with pre-screeners of Season 6, in an effort to avoid any similar mishaps; but, unfortunately, an issue with a Canadian site allowed the first episode to leak.
Leading to spoilers, spoilers, and more spoilers, HBO is being extra careful this year and will not be sending any episode screeners to journalists, who it seems will have to wait their turn like the rest of us.
But we aren't left completely hanging - HBO recently published a new batch of promotional photos, along with a video detailing some cool behind-the-scenes CGI effects.
Game of Thrones will return to HBO on July 16th.
