Euron Greyjoy Is Season 7's Bad Boy
Evil Uncle Euron was promised to be bigger and badder than Joffrey and Ramsey put together, which meant costume design Michele Clapton had quite a job on her hands.
Clapton explains how she used Euron's outfits to emphasize his "bad-boy" persona:
"He wants to get inside Jaime's head," Clapton says. "[He wants] to threaten him visually and physically. He's attractive and swaggering...he is a threat."
To create Euron's signature look, Clapton designed his wardrobe to reflect the "psychopathic arse." Actor Pilo Asbæk calls it "the whole fucking rockstar look," including "leather pants, leather jacket, open shirt - because Euron doesn't give a shit."
A man who cut out the tongues of his crew clearly doesn't give a shit - and according to Clapton, the slashes on his jacket are meant to mirror this calculated violence.
Asbæk told HBO in a recent interview that he doesn't see Euron as pure evil, the way Joffrey and Ramsey were.
"My job is not to walk in the same footsteps as those actors," he says.
Although Asbæk can't give any spoilers, he teases that the rest of the season will be "better and better."
"In the next episode, he's going to be a fucking brutal man."
