Why Nymeria Sand Almost Didn't Return for GoT Season 7
Jessica Henwick, actress of Game of Thrones' popular Sand Snake Nymeria Sand, revealed in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly that her character was close to disappearing from Season 7.
Having played the role on HBO's Game of Thrones for two years now, Henwick had built up a substantial number of fans who hoped to see her return to their screens this July.
"When we left Nymeria she was newly aligned with Olenna Tyrell and was going to start a war," Henwick reminds us.
Her newfound alliance with the Tyrells could make her an even more powerful and influential force in the coming seasons.
Unfortunately, her full schedule while filming Netflix's Iron Fist (feat. Finn Jones, actor of Loras Tyrell) was almost too demanding, and the actress feared she would be unable to film for Game of Thrones.
"I wasn't able to do it," she tell Entertainment Weekly. "My schedule clashed. I was filming Iron Fist for six to seven months and they wouldn't give me the time off. [GoT] was so massive for me in terms of my career and building my profile and as an experience in itself, I wanted to return."
Although it took some negotiating with Marvel and a good amount of flights between New York City and Belfast, Nymeria Sand will return for season 7.
As for what the Sand Snake will be up to this season?
"We pick up right where we left off and get into the nitty gritty very quickly. There's no time wasted this season."
Watch this season on HBO beginning July 16th.
