Is Gendry Euron's "Gift" To Cersei?
So Game of Thrones is finally back and of course it leaves us with a lot of questions. What will happen to Jon and Sansa's already fraught relationship? How will Dany "begin" her plan to conquer Westeros? And, most notably, what was Euron referring to when he promised to bring a "gift" to Cersei?
The villainous Greyjoy told Cersei, "In my experience, the truest way to woman's heart is with a gift," and promised not to return to King's Landing until he had procured one.
There are some obvious things to which he could be referring. Tyrion, whom Cersei hates with a passion, or even an new fleet of ships or an army. However, many are thinking it could be a character we haven't encountered for several seasons: Gendry.
Last we saw, Gendry, with the help of Ser Davos, was rowing away from Dragonstone. Due to his absence for several seasons, fans speculated it would be the last we saw of the bastard Baratheon. However, many now think Gendry is returning to season 7, as for the first time since season 3, actor Joe Dempsie showed up to the world premiere in LA and was even spotted in Belfast where GoT films.
Gendry's return could be a not so happy one, as Euron's gift to Cersei. This does make sense. Although it was Joffrey, not Cersei who ordered all the Baratheon bastards to be killed, she would obviously not want any more people with a better claim to the throne (she already has Dany on her hands). Cersei has every reason to want Gendry dead.
The only question that remains is how Euron could have found out Gendry's lineage, as not many in Westeros know who he is. However, Euron has been in exile traveling the world and learning its secrets. Perhaps Gendry was one of them.
We'll just have watch the show in the upcoming weeks to find out.
