It's Official - Gendry to Return to Game of Thrones in Season 7
When Gendry rowed away from Melisandre and Stannis Baratheon and left Dragonstone at the end of Season 3, the air became thick with anticipation of his potential return.
Three seasons later, the wait is over - Joe Dempsie, actor of Gendry, has let spill in an interview with the Los Angeles Times that his character will return in Season 7.
Dempsie's presence at the season premier in Los Angeles made the return of Robert Baratheon's bastard official.
Considering the writers of GoT have no problem killing off our favorites, Gendry's return implies that the character must carry some significance in the coming episodes. One popular theory is that the bastard blacksmith will arrive in Oldtown, working with Sam Tarley to craft a sword of Valyrian steel (Gendry was once the apprentice of Tobho Mott, one of the few blacksmiths blessed with the knowledge of how to make Valyrian steel weapons).
The Times made sure not to reveal at what point Gendry will make his return, but thankfully we can expect to see him again before the season ends.
