Essential Tips and Tricks For Surviving Horizon Zero Dawn

546 Reads

Horizon Zero Dawn was recently released and has unsurprisingly received rave reviews to date.

I think many of those who have played this beautiful new RPG would agree that kickin’ robot dinosaur ass ain't an easy feat. If you're going to survive in this untamed world, you’re going to need to really step your game up.

Here are some tips kickstart your journey as you hunt these mechanical beasts that roam this beautiful post-apocalyptic world.

Override Everything

Horizon Zero Dawn is not an easy game. If you’re not careful, you’ll quickly get overrun by a pack of robots and you’ll be dying a lot. Even then, stealth is very time consuming and is very hit or miss.

This is where Override comes in. you’ll want to use this mechanic a lot as it will turn an enemy into a friend. Not only that, but the ensuing chaos will do you well in battle, allowing you to separate the pack of robots from each other, and allow you to pick them off one by one.

Make Friends

Merchants will you give free stuff for saying hi. No, I’m not kidding. The first time you visit a merchant, go to the treasure boxes tab and you can snag a totally free treasure box which contains randomly generated content. Before selling or buying anything, check this out.

Ooo Shiny!

Scavenge everything. This is a post-apocalyptic world, you’ll need everything you can get your hands on. Animal skins can upgrade your carrying capacity, herbs can be used for potions, and you can never have enough fire arrows.

Also, ridge-wood, my god ridge-wood is incredibly vital, do not skip over any ridge-wood. Taking a few extra seconds to loot your fallen enemy is a surefire way to save your cash and be an efficient badass.

Not That Type of Cauldron

Cauldrons may technically be optional, but you should make every effort to visit every cauldron.

Why? First, they’re damn fun, and a change of pace from the open outdoors that you’re normally no used to.

Finishing a cauldron rewards you with the ability to override additional robots, which can be useful when going up against some of the larger baddies later in the game.

Happy hunting!
