Patriots Planning To Keep Garopollo?
So it looks like the Patriots are going to have to send “I’m Sorry, not Sorry” care packages to the Browns, Bears, 49ers, and every other team that was dying to get their hands on Jimmy Garoppolo.
Adam Schefter took to Twitter this morning to inform every eager Coach and GM with a blank check that the Super Bowl champs would not be expected to trade the QB.
In a move that will have a ripple effect on all QB-needy teams, Patriots are not expected to trade QB Jimmy Garoppolo, per league sources.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 1, 2017
This was after rumors had surfaced that several teams were very very interested in Tom Brady’s backup. The Browns and Bears were two teams that were not so subtly vying for Garoppolo, and everyone with half a mind knew they were both willing to go into a bidding war over him.
This all very well could be one of Bill Belichick’s famous ploys for all we know. He could just be dangling Garoppolo in front every other team, trying to see how much he could get for him. Plus we all know that as much as Tom Brady wants to play for the rest of his life, (And we all want him to), injuries can happen when you least expect it.
Only time will tell as to whether the Pats are serious about keeping Jimmy around, or if they are just trying to see how much they could get for the QB. All I know is, Garoppolo is sitting quite pretty right now, and has nothing to worry about.
What do you think? Is it a good idea for the Patriots to hold onto Jimmy? Or is this all a ploy to jack up the price for him? Let me know in the comments below.
