GOP Senators Ask Tillerson To Initiate A Probe On Soros' Political Fundings Overseas
In a letter sent Tuesday, Republican senators requested a probe to look into claims that U.S.taxpayer funds are being used to back left-wing political groups in other countries that have ties to billionaire George Soros.
In the past, there have been rumblings about the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and how that agency has funded other organizations.
The USAID has funded Soros' Open Society Foundations in Macedonia, with almost $5 million between 2012 and 2016, which has been rumored to be a cover up for Soros' manipulation.
The senators that signed the bill include James Inhofe R-Oklahoma, Thom Tillis, R-North Carolina, David Perdue, R-Georgia, Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Bill Cassidy, R-Louisiana. There have been attempts in the past to raise awareness of this issue with the senators reaching out to the U.S. ambassador, but those attempts failed, which led to this plea to the Secretary of State.
The senators' talked about how this could have a destabilizing effect in Macedonia. "The destabilizing effects of such actions in a NATO country are clear and the threat for further escalation eminent as Albania anticipates parliamentary elections later this year."
The letter goes on saying: "We respectfully ask that you use your authority to investigate all funds associated with promoting democracy and governance and review the programs, accounts, and multiplicity of U.S. entities involved in such activities."
