Patty Jenkins Reveals Where Wonder Woman 2 Will Take Place
Wonder Woman is an unbridled hit.
The film debuted to the tune of $103.5 million at the domestic box office on opening weekend.
It was the fourth highest debut among superhero origin films. For reference, that is higher than Iron Man ($98.6 million) or Doctor Strange ($85 million).
It is also the biggest opening weekend ever recorded by a female director.
It is by far the best reviewed film in the DCEU, sporting a 93% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, among the highest of any superhero movie.
So, inevitably, a Wonder Woman sequel is a top priority for Warner Bros.
Fortunately for fans of the movie, Wonder Woman director, Patty Jenkins has been confirmed to return for the sequel. And she has divulged some of her plans for it; including where it will take place.

Jenkins said, "The story will take place in the U.S., which I think is right. She's Wonder Woman. She's got to come to America. It's time."
In a separate interview she elaborated, "I'd like to bring her a little farther along into the future and have a fun, exciting storyline that's its own thing."
Jenkins made sure to mention that she has no interest in doing a sequel to Wonder Woman for profit alone.
"I'm not a big obligation person when it comes to art. You want to do a movie like this because you believe in it.
Then I had this revelation in the middle of the night: this is your dream cast, you've created a character that you love and you can say anything you want in the world right now.
Then I realized that Wonder Woman 2 is its own great movie. I made Wonder Woman. Now I want to make Wonder Woman 2.
It's a beautiful story to tell, an important time to tell it and with people that I love."
Regardless of where or when it takes place, I'm on board. Patty Jenkins has earned that right.
