Everything (Important) that happened at SDCC this Year
So another San Diego International Comic Con has come and gone (some people just call it "Comic Con"but whatever). As usual, A LOT of stuff went down this year, and I wanted to recap the good, the bad and the wtf of this year's event.
BEN AFFLECK WILL BE BATMAN AS LONG AS WARNER BROS. WANTS

This was the big news of the event. Rumors had been swirling all last week that Ben was "done" as Batman following Justice League. When inevitably asked about it at the event, Affleck seemed say (I am paraphrasing) "I will be Batman as long as the studio wants me to be." Even though in theory this should squash the rumors, it won't. There is a chance that he is just saying this until Justice League comes out in November to avoid bad press, but I don't believe it. Ben loves Batman, and the fans love him as Batman (Outside of the folks that overreacted when he was originally cast and now can't admit that they were wrong).
A FLASHPOINT LIVE ACTION MOVIE IS HAPPENING

YES. This is very good. The announcement that The Flash's solo film will be a Flashpoint adaptation opens up a huge number of possibilities in the DCEU.
BLACK PANTHER TORE IT UP
Unfortunately, the new Black Panther trailer and footage that were shown at Comic Con managed to stay within the walls of Hall H. However, word is that they were fantastic, even more so than the teaser trailer that was released about a month ago. Also at the panel, some legend in the audience yelled "HAIL CAESAR!" right before Andy Serkis was about to answer a question, which made me very happy.
SUPERMAN: YEAR ONE

If whoever is reading this knows me, they will know that Frank Miller is my favorite writer and artist. My idol even. That being said, his stuff from after about 2000 or so has been dreadful (in his defense he definitely had some sort of serious undisclosed medical issues as he disappeared for a few years and then re-emerged looking about 130 years old). Mr. Miller has made his distaste for Superman very well known, and while disliking the Man of Steel is far from an unpopular opinion, why then would he decide to write a story on him? The planned story was announced with John Romita Jr. as the artist which is unbelievably ironic as JRJR has also been a shell of himself these days.

Ughhhhhhh. I despise sequels (outside of Mad Max: Fury Road). The idea of the sequel has greatly degenerated from "Continuing a story" into "Get as much money as you can". Grant Morrison announced that he's doing a sequel to the classic graphic novel "Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth" which is in my Top 3 stories ever currently. Worse is that Dave McKean, the absolute best part of the original will not be back. This is actually painful to talk about so, I am moving on.
