New DCEU Intro Hints at Green Lantern In Justice League
Okay, so this is something I have actually touched on before, a story that is the biggest buzz in Comics right now. While Marvel films make headlines for their post-credits scenes, ironically DC has made headlines for it's intro to a movie.
Unfortunately, I am basically the only comic fan on Earth that did not see Wonder Woman over the weekend (at least it feels that way), the film where the buzz comes from. The movie was important in a way besides being the "first great DCEU movie" as it was the first to feature the new DCEU intro.
The intro (which was bootlegged on YouTube by some wholesome folks, as Warner Brothers has not released it officially for some reason) featured short profiles of the Justice League members which transitions into a shot of everyone in the DCEU, which turns into the DC logo. Here's the thing though, Green Lantern is a Justice League member in the intro!
Hopefully this is actually a significant reveal by DC. There are conflicting reports if Green Lantern even appears in the movie at this point, as he was essentially removed because of the embarrassing 2011 mega-flop of him (something I have always been strongly against and mentioned it in my third story on GONG). Could he be a major character? Could DC have kept a secret like this in an era where everything gets leaked out?
If the latter is true, which is sadly very unlikely, and Green Lantern is a main character in the Justice League movie, or even anything more than a cameo, it would be pure genius. DC understands that teasing a character appearance is a great way to build hype for the movie and the character. This is exactly what GL needed if this is true. The aforementioned 2011 Green Lantern movie has left a very bad taste in everyone's mouth, and Hal Jordan deserves much better.
