DC to Celebrate First Ever “Wonder Woman Day”!
DC Comics will be commemorating the 75 year anniversary by celebrating Wonder Woman Day for the first time ever. The date has been set for June 3rd, coinciding with the opening weekend of the Wonder Woman film premiere.
According to DC, more than 2,000 different retailers will be participating in the celebrations including big names like Barnes and Noble and Amazon. However, local comic book stores might get on board as well. Fans can look forward to free comic books including a reprint of Wonder Woman #1, a special edition Wonder Woman comic, and DC SUPER HERO GIRLS WONDER WOMAN DAY SPECIAL EDITION #1 for younger readers.
Among those major realtors listed above, Walmart, Costco, and Books-A-Million will also have exclusive merchandise, including exclusive Wonder Woman tiaras and bracelets will be available at select retailers.
Many comic book writers and artists, including current author Greg Rucka, will be joining in the festivities but to what extent is still not known. Hopefully, they will be doing signings so we can get our favorite Wonder Woman merch autographed.
To top it off, DC All Access, will host a 6-day series building up to the special date. Look for in depth history, artist conversations, and more.
If you want a head start, they’re offering a “Wonder Woman Day Activity Kit” that can be found here: http://www.dccomics.com/wwdaykit. It is a pretty impressive 47-page download including coloring pages, trivia, and games and covers all the bases for all age groups.
This, of course, serves as marketing for the film but I for one don’t mind celebrating such an important woman in the DC Universe and beyond!
