What's Next for the DCEU? Here's All You Need to Know
The DC Extended Universe kicked off in 2013 with the release of Man Of Steel.
With three movies in the last four years, two to be released this year, and many more to come, the future looks extra bright for the franchise.
Here’s an insight on what approach Warner Bros. will take on the upcoming movies, and what to expect from each one:
This year’s Wonder Woman will be an origin story and will add Ares, the god of war to the connected universe.
Justice League will follow later in November, and will be the team’s first ever live-action film. Steppenwolf, a member of the Darkseid’s elite, will be the film’s main antagonist.
The introduction of such powerful characters means that the stakes in the DCEU will be high early on. Future DCEU movies are expected to have a lighter tone as compared to Batman v Superman, as proved by the Justice League trailers and Suicide Squad.
Other films to be released in later years are:
Green Lantern Corps (2020)
We don’t know much about these movies yet, except that Aquaman will follow the events of Justice League and will not be an origin story; and although Shazam will have a light and comedic tone, the stakes will be real just like in Justice League.
Apart from the announced film slate, Warner Bros. is working on some other projects as well that are in various stages of development.
